Family History Center • New Bern
The Church also has a Family History Center onsite that is open and free to the public.
The Family History Library (FHL) and the Family History Centers (FHC) are operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The FHL and FHC are open to all persons, regardless of race, creed or religion. All are welcome to use the resources and services at little or no charge.
The Family History Center is located in the Trent Woods area of New Bern at 1207 Forest Drive just off Trent Road between Highland Avenue and Red Robin Lane. It is housed in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The staff is not equipped to do your research for you, but will gladly explain the resources available and how to best use them.
We encourage you to use FamilySearch.org when the FHC is closed.

Equipment at the New Bern Center includes three computers, two microfilm readers, one microfilm/reader printer, and two microfiche readers.
We have a list of microfilms and microfiche which are part of our permanent collection, as well as a list of films currently on hand.
We carry the majority of state and country research outlines, genealogical forms, word lists and writing guides are also available for a small charge. Be sure to examine these in the file copy books in the bookcase.
The FHC is privately owned and operated. The facilities and resources are available to the public with the understanding that those who use the collections will abide by the Center's rules.
